🚜 A Farm Thought
"Are you ready for the exam?"
A friend of mine, like so many others in our city, has been directly affected by the border patrol operation (blatant discrimination) happening in Charlotte, NC.
When I asked how he was holding up and what I could do to help, he spoke words that have yet to leave my mind:
“It’s time to put into practice everything we’ve learned. This is an exam of faith in which the teacher has already provided the answers: trust and courage.”
That hit me, because it’s the same thing I've been feeling this month on the farm.
You can learn, plan, pray, and prepare… but eventually the moment comes when you actually have to do the thing.
You have to show up. You have to trust. You have to act.
Our lives have been full of those “exam moments” this year:
When the weather ruins a whole week of work we've methodically planned out.
When we lose animals we diligently cared for.
When something breaks at the worst possible time.
When the harvest isn’t anywhere near what we expected.
Unfortunately, most of the time, you don’t get a warning.
You don’t get to "study" more.
You just have to put into practice publicly what you prepared for in private.
What my friend is living through right now is far from easy, but I'm so grateful for his boldness. His response reminded me that faith without works is dead.
We pray when those “exam moments” come in your life, you too will choose trust and courage over fear.

💚 Feeding Families
Earlier last week, we had the incredible privilege of partnering with Food for Families NC, a local nonprofit whose mission is powerful:
“To eradicate hunger in our area by utilizing volunteer resources to provide nutritious food to families in need.”
Through this partnership, we donated over 600 lbs of pasture-raised chicken and pork to help feed families in need right here in our community.
Given the recent SNAP benefit pauses and immigration raids in our city, the need has never been greater.
We consider it a blessing to share food that nourishes both the body and the spirit.
With that said, we are currently sold out of chicken and pork (except for larger cuts) until next year.
Chicken will be restocked in February/March, and pork later in the year.
If you'd like to join Food for Families NC in their effort to feed families and change lives, you can become a volunteer or donate to their cause.

🐖 Still in Stock
While our smaller pork cuts are sold out, we still have two fantastic options available: Boston Butt and Picnic Shoulder.
If you love slow-cooked meals, pulled pork, or weekend smoking sessions, these cuts are hard to beat.
They'd even make an amazing centerpiece or side dish for Thanksgiving gatherings if you want something a little different this year.
As a small thank-you, here’s a little Thanksgiving gift:

💬 Something to Reflect On
Maybe you don't struggle with this, but I'm guilty of often feeling the need to handle everything on my own.
But the longer I farm, the more I realize that asking for help isn’t failure… it’s humility.
This week, ask yourself:
Where in my life am I carrying something alone because it feels “easier” than asking for help?
We pray that once you pinpoint that one thing, you'll have the courage to act.

As we close this month’s update, I want to practice what we just reflected on and actually ask for your help.
We’re still a very small farm with very big dreams, and we simply cannot grow without the support of people who believe in what we’re building.
Here’s the single most helpful thing you can do:
Let someone know we exist.
You don’t have to buy anything, subscribe to anything, or sign up for anything.
Just share our farm with one person... a friend, a neighbor, a coworker, someone in your small group, or anyone who might care about fresh food or supporting local family farms.
We know not everyone will shift from grocery store goods to farm-fresh goods, but with your help, we have a real chance to serve the ones who will.
Thanks for your help!
For your good,
Farmer Emilio & Family
