Hey friends & fam!
The summer is the busiest and hottest time on the farm.
There is always something that could be cut, watered, moved, repaired, cleaned, or tended to. But somewhere in the middle of all this work, we were able to take a much needed time of rest.

After a few days of sitting poolside, afternoon massages, and leisurely vineyard strolls, reality eventually came calling.

Our pigs required their own water activities and some serious house cleaning.

The orchard needed its weekly mowing, which we’ve decided is really just our farm version of a go-kart date.

Our vegetable garden required plenty of water, a little encouragement, and constant protection from some very hungry caterpillars.

And we got busy making small batches of our elderberry syrup for all of you who ordered. Thank you!

As much as we loved our time away, and already plan on going back soon, there’s still nothing quite like getting back to the work we love on the farm.

♨️ Something new is brewing
Taking a little more time to rest this month also gave us room to dream and plan for what’s next.
We’re in the early stages of preparing another product that we hope to have ready in September, just in time for cooler mornings and the beginning of fall.
We’re not quite ready to tell you everything just yet, but here's a hint in the form of a question…
How do you take your coffee? 😊

🌿 A Blessing in the Weeds
When we planted our elderberries earlier this year, we had every intention of keeping them heavily mulched. Then life happened. Between traveling, keeping the dang deer out, and everything else that needed our attention, we fell really behind. Before we knew it, the grass and weeds were waist high.

We thought we had messed up. Then came one of the hottest, driest stretches of the summer.
That tall grass we should have dealt with ended up shading the young plants and helping the ground hold onto every bit of rain and morning dew it could. Somehow, through the extreme heat and drought, our elderberries have kept growing beautifully.

We hope this little story reminds you that although we may not be able to undo every mistake we make in life, we can always trust that none of them are beyond the reach of God’s lovingkindness.
This month, may His grace and providence meet you in the places that don’t go according to plan.
